Tea lover turned entrepreneur
Leaf is something a bit special. A cool, urban café-bar set in a stylish warehouse space in Liverpool, it mixes good music, trendy surroundings and… loose leaf tea. Leaf is fast establishing itself as one of Liverpool’s leading alternative live venues, showcasing everything from DJs and bands to artwork and film, and of course the finest teas. It seems that tea leaves are the new rock and roll! The venue even offers tea-tasting courses for the serious tea drinker, or even those who’d just like an induction into the world of proper tea.
“Tea is the nation’s favourite drink, yet there are very few venues that do it properly,” Natalie says. “I also came to realize how nightlife and leisure trends are changing and how young people are far more discerning in their choice today than ever before. Lifestyle habits have transformed with a ‘night on the tiles’ not always translating as binge drinking. Leaf Tea Shop reaches out to the enormous number of young people who demand more from their leisure time in terms of atmosphere and what they consume.”
In the future, Natalie aims to create a presence for Leaf at the UK’s major arts and music festivals and open more Leaf venues in other cities across Europe. As if this wasn’t enough, she also plans to develop the world’s first tea-based beer!
