My First Week With Make Your Mark

July 27th, 2009 by Bonnie

Don’t worry, this isn’t a minute-by-minute account of my first week - just a couple of thoughts I’ve had since starting here…

After joining the Make Your Mark team last Wednesday, I have been thinking back to (many moons ago) when I was making decisions in my life after taking my GCSE’s.

I remember the only option I knew existed was to carry on in further education, so I went to my school’s Sixth Form and then on to University.

Now, I’m not knocking further education as this is obviously important (and something that has made me the person I am today), but I do think had I been aware of other options, I may have really taken the time to consider my future and explore my options instead of following the crowd or fitting in with ‘the norm’.

So, for me being part of Make Your Mark, and actively seeking to engage, empower and inspire young (and not so young) people to make their ideas reality, and to consider ALL the options in regards to career (and life) choices - is really pretty great.
