VOTE VOTE VOTE!

March 17th, 2009 by diana

This is, as you can probably tell from the use of capitals in the title, a very excited blog post.

Why you wonder? Well, not only has summer began (A girl can hope right?) but you can now vote for your favourite Enterprising Young Brit in the People Choice award! Hurrah!

The entrants this year are all pretty ace and amazing and by voting, you will be participating in patting them on the back while saying “Hey, you know what? I totally love what you’re doing with your business, you’re way cool and I want to play a part in shouting out about how great you are. I also really like your hair.” All figuratively of course.

Seriously though, by voting you will be giving a virtual high-five to our lovely EYB-ers whilst basking in a celestial like glow of goodness. And you can’t say fairer then that can you?

Cheers!

Why do you insist on suggesting that enteprising and entrepreneurial are equivalent. The most enterprising young brit may be plotting the revolution, writing poetry or cycling across Greenland on a diet of jelly. Entrepreneurial does not mean enterprising!
Stop adding to the confusion in schools and the reticence of many educators to get involved in enterprise - PLEASE!

    Hi Mike,

We’re clear here that there is a difference between the two! In schools we do a lot of work to encourage enterprise skills, with the aim of encouraging more of students to be entrepreneurial (running businesses). Let us know if you want more info on our schools programme.

For this competition we had to come up with a snappy title (Entrepreneurial Young Brits is not quite so good!) and we make the criteria quite clear that we are rewarding those with real businesses, as you can see from the list of finalists.

I hope that by sharing our finalist’s stories we can inspire educators and students alike, rather than confusing them.

We really like it when people share their thoughts as it often informs our activities moving forward - does anyone else have an opinion on this?

    Thanks
    Hannah (Head of Communications)
