Local business sets secondary schools a challenge!
December 15th, 2008 by julieLocal business ‘Coast and Country’ have set local secondary schools a challenge. They are opening their doors and inviting students to take a look at the reception areas of Coast & Country at Grange Town, Spencerbeck, Dormanstown and Skelton.
The Challenge
Students form the Redcar & Cleveland area are invited to spend time at the reception areas of Coast & Country at Grange Town, Spencerbeck, Dormanstown and Skelton. Students will have to look at the reception area from a customer’s perspective and suggest improvements. The teams will be invited to present in the Coast & Country board room in front of panel of business people.
They will use skills such as: budgeting, team work, communication, creativity, innovation, persuasion, leadership and of course presentation skills.
The Teams?
Approx. 5 – 10 students per school. The Challenge is open to all secondary schools in the Redcar & Cleveland area. Year 9, 10 or 11. (Or a mixture thereof!) The most important attribute is a willingness to learn new skills and to be involved in the Make Your Mark Club going forward over the next year.
When?
You’ll be invited to come along in December or early January at a mutually convenient time to have a look at the reception area. Students will then have time to formulate their ideas and will be asked to present in the board room in the new year.
The prize?
12 months mentoring for the winning students!! They will form a Make Your Mark Club and will receive mentoring to help their business ideas happen. They are several people on hand at Coast and Country who would like to get involved in mentoring. It really is an opportunity not to be missed!
Interested schools can get in touch with me to arrange a visit in December or early January. Students have already begun to visit Coast and Country and the ideas are bubbling!!!!
