Bianca Edgar

Bianca Edgar is 26 and runs Lipstick Media, a promotional photographic service that helps emerging bands and hopeful models get noticed.

Bianca Edgar’s longstanding passion for the world of music and entertainment provided more than a decade of preparation for her current role, propelling her into the company of the likes of Simon Cowell by the age of 16.

Early PA and marketing roles within the media industries eventually gave way to a studio photography career with an established national company. But it was the birth of her second child that gave Bianca the drive to follow her dream and launch her own promotional photography service, specifically for unknown bands and up-and-coming models:

“I wanted something that could fit with a young family but still allow me to pursue my passions. Undiscovered bands and models need to get noticed, but they don’t have unlimited amounts of money. I make sure my portfolio packages are affordable and do the shoots on location, which also makes each picture unique.”

The business is less than a year old but is already becoming busy on the model side, prompting Bianca to consider more long term spin off plans, “Eventually I want to diversify Lipstick into a model agency featuring real girls, models who are not size 0, and I’d love to work on projects like Britain’s Next Top Model.”

For those considering taking the plunge and starting their own business, Bianca stresses the importance of groundwork:

“Get as much advice as you can. Meet people who do what you want to do or who are involved in the business. Get contacts. Spend time with like minded, positive people, avoid the negative ones and believe in yourself.”

Self confidence can be an issue, and was for Bianca in the early days, but she is clear about her ambitions:

“I want to grow my reputation, work with top bands and models, make my children and partner Mark proud of me. When I’ve got the Red Hot Chili Peppers ringing me up to take their photos, I’ll know I’ve made it!”
