Employee awards

This article in the FT about employees award is rather timely as it coincides with a team meeting today where we had our monthly Make Your Mark 'Big 'em Up' awards. They reward three employees per month for teamwork, motivation and delivery of results. Some of the comments in the FT article are sceptical but I think when run when schemes like this can be very motivating. I won a Team Player of the Year award in a previous job and the recognition (and the ipod) I gained were extremely motivating. I still include that accolade on my CV.

Obviously it needs to be alongside a range of staff benefits and incentives as different people are motivated by different things, but when one of my team won an award today I was very chuffed for them. More of that please! Tell me what you think.

Big up a Bit more!

This comment is well received and noted, I am a firm believer in regonition and reward within the workplace and we do it well individually so it's great to see it so well received at MYM Towers..... It would be even better to see more nominations coming in, I myself am guilty of not always saying thanks when needed, so however small or big that recognition needs to be please please keep sending them in!!

bigging up big 'em ups

i won the Make Your Mark big ‘em up in march (framed certificate AND shopping vouchers - better than an Oscar!) and it was really nice to feel appreciated by my colleagues. In these troublesome times where organisations are having to tighten their purse strings and do more for less I think such recognition schemes could be good for morale - and nominating somone can be just as nice as being nominated. So hooray i say!
