Our vision
Our aim is to drive economic prosperity and social cohesion by increasing the UK’s enterprise culture and entrepreneurial behaviour.
An enterprise culture - in the form of entrepreneurial confidence, motivation, capability and ambition - is key to unlocking the potential of everyone in society.
This means individuals and groups thinking and acting in enterprising ways. Typically this will result in them starting and growing a business or a social enterprise or, as employees, being motivated and equipped to help their firms seize new opportunities.
Enterprise is the application of individual talent to deliver economic and social benefit. It empowers people to make money and to have a positive social impact and is therefore the most significant and measurable output of the ‘unlocking talent’ agenda.
We have three strategic objectives that support progress towards our vision:
To increase entrepreneurial motivation and confidence
Increase the number of people who see the value of being entrepreneurial, are inspired to engage in enterprising activity and have the self-belief and confidence to do so.
To increase entrepreneurial experience, capability and ambition
Increase the number of people who have enterprise experiences, skills and capability and are ambitious to apply their talents in entrepreneurial ways.
Reduce perceived and real barriers to enterprise.
To stimulate the creation and growth of business
Drive up competitiveness and fulfil ambition through increased rates of start-up and through growth of existing and new businesses and social enterprises.
Increase the number of employees who are motivated and equipped to help their firms seize new opportunities.
To achieve our vision and objectives we lead a UK-wide campaign to inspire those with untapped potential to fulfil their ambitions by making their enterprising ideas happen in a socially and environmentally conscious way.
