Sir Alan Sugar

Sir Alan Sugar's Grand Idea was to make money from electrical goods. Here are his five steps to success.
  1. Left school at 16 and made some money selling electrical items, which I realised I had a knack for.
  2. At 19 I set up Amstrad - Alan Michael Sugar Trading - and in 1980 floated on the stock market.
  3. Made a lot of money but never rested on my laurels - making some shrewd investments to provide for the future.
  4. Thought business TV programmes were pretty dull and wanted to promote entrepreneurship, so became the face of The Apprentice.
  5. Fired many and hired a select few - the search for the next Apprentice continues.
