FreqOUT! harnesses free wifi to engage with young people in London
Harnessing Westminster Council’s own wifi, FreqOUT is an innovative programme of wireless and emergent arts/education projects.
FreqOUT! explores the potential of wireless technology to engage socially excluded young people living in areas which fall in the top 20% most deprived neighbourhoods nationally. So far 358 young people with multiple barriers to learning have used technologies such as mobiles, Bluetooth and mini radios to discuss and create responses to current issues. FreqOUT! aims to increase young people’s opportunities for work and further education through involvement with pioneering technology, and exposure to other community members.
FreqOUT! won The Chalk & Cheese Award in the 2008 UK Catalyst Awards. Find out about the 2009 UK Catalyst Awards.
