“I’m the sort of person who is very good at some things and very bad at others – like maths, science, languages. When I found drama, it made sense and I felt comfortable in it. By the age of 12 I knew I wanted to work in the theatre but not necessarily as an actor.
“I did a history degree but also directed a play at uni that led to a placement at the Bush Theatre. Then I did a workshop with one of my long-admired theatre companies – Improbable. I hung around long enough to make myself first useful and then indispensable and now I work with them as an associate director.
“I’ve also piloted a mentoring scheme for the theatre community – looking at different ways more experienced actors and theatre-makers can support people at early stages of their careers. I want this mentoring to be more accessible so am looking at ways of doing this online.
“And as well I have my own theatre company – Jumbled – and programme nights of work-in-progress for other theatre-makers.”
