Claire Geddie jumped at the chance to establish a UK branch of the Stellar Network membership organisation for people working in film, theatre and TV.

I was working for Warner Bros when I found out that Stellar Network was launching in the UK – it was a membership organisation supporting New York’s film, theatre and TV professionals. The creative industries are notoriously closed and Stellar was born of the notion that by being open with contacts, and experiences, we strengthen them as a whole. We now arrange regular social events, screenings, and workshops on both sides of the Atlantic.

“When I took on establishing Stellar in the UK, it was an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to the people I wanted to connect with. Most important for me, however, is the notion that generosity of expertise is our responsibility in the creative industries. We have all benefited from someone’s knowledge, trust or even kindness to get where we are.

“We have 300 members and my team are running it at moment on a voluntary basis. I work for the BFI but I hope to build the business so that I can run Stellar full-time. It’s so important that I’m willing to support it while it gets off the ground.”
