The London Clippykit Challenge: Can you pocket the problem? Clippykit logo

Clippykit in partnership with Make Your Mark invites you to take part in an exclusive competition, just for girls in Year 9 and 10 in London.

Students are invited to set up a Make Your Mark Club. The club will then design a campaign using the Clippykit concept to raise awareness about an issue important to them.

What is the Challenge?

The Challenge is to come up with an issue that's important to you and then use the Clippykit concept to raise money and awareness of it. Download the full details (PDF: 1MB)

Why use Clippykits to support your favourite cause?

  • Making others aware of a cause is the first step towards change. Clippykit bags make a walking advertisement to inform others.
  • Using a cool bag to raise awareness of an important issue really helps focus attention.
  • Clippykits are very easy to customise. There is a huge scope to be creative and loads of potential to make money from them.

What issues count?

  • Anything that matters to you. It could be a global issue global warming, war, racism
  • It could be a problem nearer to home such as bullying, divorce, sexuality, anorexia
  • It could be a charity you would like to support dogs, breast cancer, famine relief
  • Or just something that makes you cross like too much traffic, queues, exams, lunch

What's more...

Fashion and a social conscience can go hand in hand. Becoming pro active about an issue can be very empowering and in turn can help young women overcome their own worries improve their self esteem and encourage their aspirations.

When I was at Putney High, we took our competitions very seriously, we entered everything from Choir of the Year to Young Enterprise. Being part of a team and creating a concept or product from beginning to end is motivating and exciting.  I feel really proud of the enterprises I took part in, they made me stand out from the crowd when I left school and I still use the skills I learnt running Clippykit.

Calypso Rose, Founder of ClippyKit

Students will develop their team-work, creativity and enterprise capability. They will become more aware of the impact they have on the world around them whilst gaining independence and drive to make ideas happen.

What will the winning team receive?

The team that wins the Challenge will receive the following fabulous goodies:
  1. A selection of Clippykit accessories for each person in the winning group
  2. Calypso Rose, the designer and founder of Clippykit, will come in at the end of term to talk to the school about starting out and making a success of your own business.
  3. A Kodak EasyShare 10mega pixels digital camera for the winning team.
  4. £100 to make an idea happen in your Make Your Mark Club.

What we give you to start you off

Each team will be given a large 24 pocket Clippykit bag to work from. This was the very first bag and the bag that started the company. We know from personal experience this bag works as an attention grabber. When you carry this bag down the street expect to be stopped - a lot!

You have two sides to work on - you can do what you like to the bag, attach items to it, hang things from it, even use it as part of a larger collage, idea or art installation...whatever takes your fancy!
