Live music promoters
Make Your Mark in the Music Business is working in partnership with live music promoters Curious Generation to find young people (aged 18-30) from across the UK who are looking for support to set up and run a regular, live music night in their home town or city. We know that there are young people with a real interest in music who want to create or expand their local music scene but don't have the financial backing, contacts or support to go it alone. Curious Generation want to offer their experience and infrastructure to aspiring young music promoters across the UK.
If you love music, have a genuine interest in the music scene in your area and want more experience of the music industry, you could become one of the next generation of music promoters.
The Offer (7 reasons why you should enter!):
- Curious Generation can provide you with credibility, a base and support. They will get the local venue's agreement to host a regular night and will give you the relevant training to manage and promote the event
- Curious Generation will financially back the nights, and will offer a percentage of profit share (after costs and dependant on experience)
- You can work individually or with a small group of people. If you have the relevant experience, you could even be managing a team of promoters, each running gigs in your area
- You can promote any genre of music
- You will be able to develop your skills in events management, production and promotion
- You'll get a chance to network with other bands, musicians, and music industry representatives and build up your contacts – music promoters get to know and work with everybody else on the music scene, from agents, and music labels, to management and press.
- You can run a regular event and earn money, in addition to your normal work or study
The Ask (what you need to do):
- Find and work with the best acts in your region and touring
- Scout for new artists
- Liaise with the venue
- Oversee all sound and technical requirements
- Promote the event to your target audience
- Manage the night
- Become a guest contributor to the Make Your Mark in Music blog to share your experiences.
