Lowestoft & Waveney

Welcome to the Lowestoft & Waveney Make Your Mark campaign. We hope that you will find this site useful and welcome your feedback.

Who we are

Saskia Kent is the Head of Campaign, she says “Lowestoft and Waveney are a great place to be. There has been a lot of support for the campaign from businesses, schools, the public sector, local government and from local young people.

"Our aim is to see this area as a beacon of enterprise demonstrating how creating opportunities and encouraging young people can really make a difference to the local economy, businesses and career and educational opportunities for local people."

Laurey Ayers is the Campaign Assistant and is from Lowestoft. She says she is really excited about helping young people and the community where she grew up to Make their Mark.

Enterprise Insight is working in partnership with Enterprise Lowestoft Community Interest Company. Enterprise Lowestoft has run a number of successful programmes in local schools to encourage enterprising young people to think about setting up their own businesses and to recognise some of the exciting opportunities there are for them.

Hazel Johnson, chair, is thrilled to see this national campaign come to Lowestoft and Waveney. “It’s all about creating enterprising opportunities for young people and to show everyone what great things Lowestoft has to offer.”

James Reeder, also from Enterprise Lowestoft, works with local businesses and is an active member of the Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce.

Here's the latest on what's going on with the Lowestoft Campaign.

Launch of the Lowestoft Energy Challenge, 4 May 2007

Waveney MP Bob Blizzard has launched the Lowestoft Energy Challenge at the new Sir Christopher Cockerell Centre at Lowestoft College.

From September 2007, local students from Poplars Primary School, The Denes High School and Lowestoft College will set themselves up as environmental energy consultants for their school or college.

Campaign launch, 15 September 2006

The official launch of the Lowestoft Campaign was held at the Hotel Victoria on 15 September 2006.

Local MP Bob Blizzard said “ I am very excited that Enterprise Insight have chosen Lowestoft as one of their key hubs in the UK. The future of Lowestoft is in the hands of our young people and for our town to succeed we all need to be more enterprising”.

Samanie, Hannah and Lewis at the Lowestoft launchThe launch featured a range of speakers from local business people to aspiring young people. The audience were invited to talk about how they would take the campaign forward and enjoyed a lively and stimulating experience including some speed networking.

As well as building relationships with the wider community, the campaign has been working on making Lowestoft one of the most engaged communities in this year’s Enterprise Week with dozens of events in and around the town.

The Lowestoft Campaign is looking forward to seeing the establishment of a number of new networks of young people so that they will have the opportunity to meet other people doing enterprising things and hopefully to reap the benefits of having a wider network of people to help them to develop and deliver their ideas.
